About Forage & Thrive
Media
Forage & Thrive Media is a Pacific Northwest publishing house focused on making wild food practical, accessible, and usable in real life—not just something you read about.
Wild Food, Made Practical
Practical Self-Sufficiency
We view the wilderness as a pantry. Our resources go beyond identification—teaching you how to harvest, cook, and preserve wild ingredients so they become part of everyday meals.
Built for the Field
Most guides are designed to be read at home. Ours are built to be used outside.
We create fully waterproof, synthetic paper field guides that won’t tear, warp, or fail in wet conditions—so you can carry them in the rain, in your pack, or on the ground without hesitation.
Because a guide only works if you actually use it.
Clear, Confident Identification
We prioritize visual clarity over dense terminology—using diagrams, comparisons, and simplified breakdowns so you can make confident decisions in the field—while emphasizing responsible and accurate identification practices.
More than a Book
Forage & Thrive is more than a collection of books—it’s a shift in how people think about food and the time they already spend outside. Most people don’t realize they’re surrounded by usable, edible resources every day, and we’re here to change that.
This isn’t about memorizing plants or carrying a guide you never use—it’s about building real-world skill: knowing what you’re looking at, understanding when and how to harvest, and turning what you find into something you actually eat.
Everything we create—field guides, recipes, and education—is designed to make that process simple, repeatable, and usable in real conditions. Built for people who are already out there—hunters, anglers, hikers, and everyday explorers—this is about reclaiming a skillset that used to be common and making it part of modern life again.

Sharon Trammell
Visionary, Lead Researcher, and Founder
Sharon Trammell is the founder of Forage & Thrive Media, where she leads the development of practical wild food resources designed for real-world use. Her work focuses on simplifying plant and mushroom identification through clear visual systems, making foraging more accessible to everyday people.
A graduate of Oregon State University, Sharon combines academic training with extensive field experience across the Pacific Northwest. Early on, she found that memorizing Latin names made foraging feel inaccessible—so she built a system focused on what people can actually recognize and use in the field.
Her work has been recognized by the Northwest Outdoor Writers Association, where she earned 1st place in 2025 for her writing on family fishing and now serves as a board member within the organization. She continues to spend time in the field testing and refining the systems that define Forage & Thrive’s guides, recipes, and educational content.
